AMARCORD
Italy/France 1973 (15) - 123 minutes Ipswich Film Theatre -
25 April 2005
- 7.30pm
Life in an Italian provincial town is both funny and poignant, and Fellini's fourth Oscar winner guides us through its wistful, bawdy and dream-like backstories with his cartoonist's colourful brush strokes and Nino Rota's sublime music. The title means I Remember in Rimini dialect.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS:
Nobody does chaos as well as the Italians, Superb;
Endearing and beautifully observed;
Lovely to see a new print - a much seen film, it still amuses;
Today, they would be called a "disfunctional family". Amusing but strange;
I am sure this was actually deep and meaningful, but I'm afraid that I could not wait for it to end.
