2004/05 Season

BRIGHT YOUNG THINGS

UK 2003 (15) - 106 minutes
Directed by Stephen Fry

Ipswich Film Theatre - 13 December 2004 - 7.30pm

Perhaps you think paparazzi are a new phenomenon. The 1930s partying antics of the rich were the tabloid fodder of the day. How did they cope with having their indiscretions spread over the front page? Stephen Fry's adaptation of Evelyn Waugh's Vile Bodies captures the mood of the country as war looms.

AUDIENCE COMMENTS: Hilarity, sadness, fantasy - what more could you want; Lovely to look at, but essentially empty like the Society it was depicting; Horrible people, beautifully filmed; Like its author - flashes of brilliance, but ultimately rather tedious; Well made rubbish.
