L'HOMME DU TRAIN
France 2002 (12A) - 90 minutes Ipswich Film Theatre -
25 October 2004
- 7.30pm
One of those ineffable witty entertainments typical of this director at his best, full of dialogue choicely couched between crudity and erudition. The two actors contrast perfectly - Jean Rochefort, the garrulous retired schoolmaster, and Johnny Halliday, a cautious and taciturn bankrobber.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS:
Rochefort and Hallyday were excellent - achieving their goals in death;
Very French, very enjoyable, very enigmatique. What's so wonderful is how French it is. We couldn't do this in a month of dimanches;
Great relationship developed between the two men most superbly portrayed;
Still thinking about the ending.
