2004/05 Season

LANTANA

Australia 2001 (15) - 121 minutes
Directed by Ray Lawrence

Ipswich Film Theatre - 11 October 2004 - 7.30pm

Somewhere between police procedural and psychological drama, this is at once a fluidly filmic thriller and an exploration of how deceit, coincidence and love can change our lives. Set in Sydney, the film's title refers to an Australian shrub with bright flowers but tangled underneath.

AUDIENCE COMMENTS: Even after an exhausting day, I found this film gripping because of the way the plot unfolded; Teaches us not to make assumptions or to jump to conclusions; Characters were excellently developed - a well paced film creating a good deal of suspense and intrigue; This was a serious exploitation of love, lies, truth and sexuality. I'm going to learn to dance; Complex, but clever.
