2004/05 Season

RUSSIAN ARK

Russia/Germany 2002 (U) - 99 minutes
Subtitled

Directed by Aleksandr Sokurov

Ipswich Film Theatre - 14 March 2005 - 7.30pm

Famous for being filmed entirely in one long travelling take through the Hermitage Museum. This is no gimmick but a wonderful "sleep-walking" vision of Russian civilisation. We meet Catherine the Great, a doomed Tsar Nicholas II and the flower of Russian Society in spectacular crowd scenes.
