DR STRANGELOVE: OR HOW I LEARNED TO STOP WORRYING AND LOVE THE BOMB
UK 1963 (PG) - 93 minutes
Ipswich Film Theatre -
16 May 2005
- 7.30pm
This very black comedy is a vision of a future in the '60s, a cynical view of the progress of technology and human stupidity. Featuring a paranoid US General and a frustrated gung-ho military type, it also offers Peter Sellers in three wildly differing roles, giving a superb performance in each.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS:
Still frightening - so perceptive of human frailty (and funny);
Poignant, relevant now as then. Ignore at our peril;
Holds up remarkably well. Sellers provides three quite brilliant and nicely understated portrayals;
Sellers brilliant and to a great extent frighteningly relevant.
