2005/06 Season
THE MOTOR CYCLE DIARIES
UK/USA/France 2004 (15) - 125 minutes Ipswich Film Theatre -
9 January 2006
- 7.30pm
Travel through South America in the 1950s with cousins Ernesto and Alberto, two newly qualified doctors. This is no ordinary road trip: Ernesto meets the people of his continent and his social awareness starts to fire on all cylinders - unlike the motorbike. The young Che Guevara realises he is born to fight injustice.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS:
Beautifully filmed and felt very authentic, although how can you fall off a motorbike so many times and remain intact;
A powerful film which held me spellbound. Will be hard to beat this season. First class;
Mr Redford spent his money well. I thought this was to be a boys' film about motorbikes. It was so much more. It makes me want to go off travelling as soon as possible. Another excellent evening;
Fan-tango-tastic. The rawness of the cinematography enhanced the amateur dramatics of the intrepid heroes. Shows South America as it still is today. Left me wanting to join the revolution.
