2006/07 Season

A COCK AND BULL STORY

UK 2005 (15) - 94 minutes
Directed by Michael Winterbottom

Ipswich Film Theatre - 22 January 2007 - 7.30pm

The zaniest of all classic novels, Laurence Sterne's Tristram Shandy is the inspiration for this brilliantly zany film which satirises the film industry and egotistical actors. Comedian Steve Coogan as Tristram suffers many an amusing and painful embarrassment in this imaginatively successful filming of the impossible.

AUDIENCE COMMENTS: Just as mad as the book. An excellent way to tackle the problem. Very funny; Didn't think I was going to enjoy it, but I did. A good laugh; Sometimes the whole is just so much more than the sum of the parts. A warm and funny film; But I didn't understand any of it; Funny in places, boring in others. Rather self-regarding.
