2007/08 Season
LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE
USA 2006 (15) Hollywood Film Theatre -
7 April 2008
- 7.30pm
A wacky comedy about a dysfunctional family's eventful journey to the Little Miss Sunshine Beauty Pageant in California in which the seven-year-old daughter is to take part. Each of them has to deal with his own personal obsession, while the film also exposes society's attitude to sexuality in a glorious ending.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS:
My wife has never laughed so much. Excellent understated comedy with a powerful message;
I would have voted A if there had been less swearing. Wonderful story and superb acting;
Lovely humour. Realistic and quite subtle for an American film;
Life-affirming and close to the bone at the same time. Beautifully acted and directed;
The final scene of the pageant almost compensated for the rest of the film which was unremittingly dire.
