2008/09 Season
LONDON TO BRIGHTON
UK 2006 (18) Hollywood Film Theatre -
29 September 2008
- 7.30pm
An award-winning story of prostitutes, pimps and gangsters, set in present-day London. Two girls are on the run, having participated in a disturbing incident. They're tracked down by the victim's son and things look bad for them. But a surprising ending gives the younger girl hope for the future.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS:
Excellent acting, horrific storyline and powerful to watch;
A disturbing and uncomfortable film beautifully acted by the two girls;
Violent, somehow emphasised by the handheld close-ups caused the final relationship between the girl and the woman to shine;
Grim but coherent and compelling;
This may very well be going on in real life. It was horrific to watch and left me feeling totally helpless.
