2008/09 Season
MOUNTAIN PATROL
China/Hong Kong 2004 (15) Hollywood Film Theatre -
13 October 2008
- 7.30pm
The Tibetan antelope is being hunted to extinction for its wool, and a journalist joins one of the poorly funded patrols charged with apprehending poachers. This stunning film not only weaves a powerful drama out of real events and situations; it does so in spite of the harshest production conditions.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS:
Thought provoking. Leaves me speechless at the selflessness of people who have so little except on love of native;
I was with the group all the way. The intimacy of the photography was amazing. Such wonderful faces and incredible scenery;
An outstanding film in every respect, not least in depicting nobility and dignity of purpose;
The lives of the patrol, on the evidence of the film, were nasty, brutish and short;
Beautiful camera work, scenery and music.
