NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN

USA 2007 (15)
122 minutes

Directed by Joel Cohen & Ethan Cohen

Hollywood Film Theatre - 9 March 2009 - 7.30pm

A strong story of theft, revenge, a sociopathic killer (Oscar-winner Bardem) relentless in his quest, and a sheriff (Tommy Lee Jones) on the trail of everybody involved. Throw in Mexican gangsters and a bounty hunter and you have a typical Coen Brothers story. Not for the squeamish but nevertheless worth seeing.

AUDIENCE COMMENTS: Not my sort of film at all, but brilliant; Most of the crowd scenes were dead people; Very slightly too long, but powerful. A portrayal of evil as an inexorable force. A sad prophecy; Wish I could have followed the dialogue; Scary and grpping but too much violence.
