2009/10 Season
ONCE
Ireland/US 2007 (15) Hollywood Film Theatre -
14 September 2009
- 7.30pm
Vacuum repairman/guitarist meets Czech immigrant/cleaner, also musical, while he's busking in Dublin. They bond, and after demonstrating the musical prowess of his group of ageing rockers, he's encouraged to try his luck in London. People burst into song at the slightest opportunity in this likeable feel-good movie.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS:
Captured the joy and agony of music and making music;
Delightful film and very professional for such a low budget. Nice not to have a conventional ending;
The story of an alternative lifestyle and the inevitable disappointment, but then again, perhaps not;
Good acting and photography. Spoilt by "If you want me", which went on and on and on;
I thought it would never end.
