2009/10 Season
SUNDAY, BLOODY SUNDAY
UK 1971 (15) Hollywood Film Theatre -
26 April 2010
- 7.30pm
Despite the risque handling of the subject this is a stylishly made character study of a young designer who shares his sexual favours equally between Peter Finch as the humane, sympathetic homosexual Jewish doctor, and Glenda Jackson, a businesswoman. With a strong supporting cast, this was nominated for several Academy Awards.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS:
Brilliant acting. So, so sad for them all. Wasn't Peter Finch gorgeous? Wonderful evocation of an era;
Strong performances all round. A groundbreaker in its day;
Very well shot and directed and great soundtrack. Acting a bit chunky and somehow it didn't gel;
Disjointed narrative. Good performances by Glenda and Peter Finch. But not really good;
What a dreadful ten days to spend with such awful people.
