2010/11 Season
BRIGHT STAR
UK/Australia 2009 (PG) Ipswich Film Theatre -
11 October 2010
- 7.30pm
This is a restrained, yet sensuous telling of a relationship that wasn't to be fulfilled, in the love story of Fanny Brawne and an increasingly tubercular John Keats. It's a lush portrait of a doomed 19th Century romance set against parental displeasure.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS:
Transporting back 200 years to be an observer of values and morals;
Wonderful acting and photography but the story sagged a bit at times. Very good ending though;
Full of atmosphere with a true sense of loss and grief;
Very good photography and acting but the story fails to grab interest. It remains yet another cosume drama;
Too long, too slow, no heart. The best thing was Topper the cat.
