This contemplative two-hander deploys Daniel Auteuil and Jean Darroussin as painter and gardner, old schoolmates who meet up much later and reflect on life. This is in the Renoir/Tavernier tradition of great humanist cinema that soothes the troubled spirit while it delights the eye.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS: Wonderful film. What a real friendship should be like; Just a lovely film, beautifully acted. I could have done with a little more of that jazz piano; Poignant storyline, excellent acting and superb, background music; Charming little masterpiece. Tension between the modern and clasical values; Very tender and thoughtful. Gentle cinema. Très bien.
