2010/11 Season
HOLIDAY
USA 1938 (U) Ipswich Film Theatre -
13 December 2010
- 7.30pm
Considered one of Cukor's best films, this sophisticated comedy stars Cary Grant as the fiance of a millionaire's younger daughter. He becomes attracted to her unconventional older sister, played by Katherine Hepburn. Cheerful, yet edged with pathos, this shows Grant at his unconcerned best.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS:
Wonderful to see two great actors at such a young age. Just great fun;
Everything was excellent, including and especially the support - Edward Everett Horton was a joy;
Corny, formulaic and fabulous;
Surprisingly entertaining. First black and white film I have ever enjoyed. First class script;
Moved on after a cracking pace. Great story. Really unexpected and lovely thirties clothes.
