2010/11 Season
LOOKING FOR ERIC
France/UK/Italy/Bel/Spain 2009 (15) Ipswich Film Theatre -
15 November 2010
- 7.30pm
This is a supernatural feelgood comedy co-starring a global football celebrity as himself. The main character is a postman with a complicated family life, trapped in a situation seemingly beyond his control. However, his mates rally round, and with Cantona's help all problems are resolved.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS:
Fabulous - gritty, real, heart and soul, edge of the seat drama. Great that there were so few recognisable "stars", apart from Eric;
A fairytale, yes, but a film about the power of books (Meatballs) and comradeship. Very Northern;
Gripping from the start. His mates were completely believable. Pretty way out ending but very satisfying;
OK, I guess. Found it a little indulgent. Good Ken Loach set pieces;
There were no subtitles.
