2010/11 Season
NOWHERE BOY
UK 2009 (15) Ipswich Film Theatre -
7 March 2011
- 7.30pm
Although about John Lennon, this musical biopic is not so much about his evolution as a musician as about the two women who formed a large part of his life. His Aunt Mimi, who raised him from early childhood, is superbly played by Kristin Scott-Thomas.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS:
Captivating, heart-rending, moving, splendid;
Fantastic film, great soundtrack and excellent cast;
I never saw any northern industrial city look as clean in the 1950s and 60s as Liverpool did in this film;
Not sure if it was a great film, but it's a great story of great talent;
Very derivative. It owes its good bits to real people's pain. But, too predictable.
