2011/12 Season
CHERRY BLOSSOMS
Germany 2008 (15) Ipswich Film Theatre -
5 December 2011
- 7.30pm
A middle-aged Bavarian couple visit their son and daughter in Berlin after the wife discovers that her husband is terminally ill and an unexpected odyssey follows. This gentle homage to Tokyo Story takes a look at family, love and the search for peace.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS:
A brilliant evocation of the release of grief, with a stunning soundtrack so often overlooked by the Society;
Totally wacky, totally wonderful. I'm exhausted;
Not much about relationships as the lack of them. Achingly sad;
Positive film about death. Ritual is always a comfort;
Perhaps might appeal more to a younger person. Beautifully acted but slow. Japan looks a horrible place.
