2011/12 Season
I AM LOVE
Italy 2009 (15) Ipswich Film Theatre -
14 May 2012
- 7.30pm
Tilda Swinton, happy but unfulfilled Russian wife of a Milanese industrialist, is swept away by passion. More than just ‘Dallas’ with pasta, this is a stylish take on what happens when tradition clashes with emotion, with a bit of food porn thrown in.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS:
Extraordinary and fascinating, music effective;
Wonderful photography, mystifying plot, too long;
Languid for the most part but shows what may result from a few well prepared prawns;
Unable to engage with anyone, or anything, in this film;
Maybe the film represents the appalling state of Italy. Awful, boring, pointless, dreadful film not worth making.
