2012/13 Season
ONIBABA
Japan 1964 (15) Ipswich Film Theatre -
25 March 2013
- 7.30pm
The wife and mother of an enlisted soldier in fourteenth century Japan eke out a living in a reed marsh, plundering the corpses of stray soldiers they have trapped in a pit. A spine-tingling horror film that demands to be seen, and heard.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS:
Left me speechless! So atmospheric and terrifying. Black and white horror – what a joy;
Brilliant black and white photography. I shall never view grass the same way again;
Thought it would never end;
Rather nasty! Still, it keeps the percussion section in work;
A morbid, depressing film.
