2013/14 Season

ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT

USA 1930 (PG)
136 minutes

Directed by Lewis Milestone

Ipswich Film Theatre - 11 November 2013 - 7.30pm

One of the most powerful anti-war statements ever put on film, this gut-wrenching story concerns a group of friends who join the German Army during WWI and are assigned to the Western Front, where their fiery patriotism is quickly turned to horror and misery by the harsh realities of combat.

AUDIENCE COMMENTS: What an amazing film. So right for the day; Well ahead of its time. I was going to write something deep but it’s all there in the film. I’m lost for words. War stinks; Too American to be realistic; Battle scenes were well shot. Some of the worst acting committed to celluloid. Really needed some mustard to go with all that ham!
