2013/14 Season
SHELL
UK 2012 (15) Ipswich Film Theatre -
28 October 2013
- 7.30pm
A richly poetic drama set at a petrol station on a lonely road in the Highlands. The title character, teenager Shell, mans the station with her emotionally distant father Pete, her only other contact coming from passing drivers – some regulars, others only travelling through the desolate terrain.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS:
Less is sometimes more. A beautiful and poignant little tale;
Beautiful, stark, moody. A study in loneliness;
Completely spoiled by the mast minute. Otherwise excellent;
McGrim!
Drab, inconsequential, wallowing, punctuated with a banal dialogue that could collectively fill half a postage stamp. The deer was mercifully put out of its misery early on while I had to endure the rest of this exercise in emotional self preservation!
