2014/15 Season
NEBRASKA
USA 2013 (15) Ipswich Film Theatre -
23 March 2015
- 7.30pm
The director’s home state is both film title and the ultimate destination for an elderly alcoholic obsessed with claiming $1,000,000. He’s lived in Montana for years and persuades his son to drive him, catching up with family and neighbours on the way. The presentation begins with the short film The Mapmaker.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS:
Lovely but sad. Brilliant performances by (Bruce) Dern and (June) Squibb;
Third time I have seen it but it holds up very well;
Nearly as difficult as watching The Royle Family but stuck with it;
A very well executed, subtle comedy, with some stand out moments. Very enjoyable;
Alzheimer’s overdose.
