2014/15 Season
NIGHT MOVES
USA 1975 (18) Ipswich Film Theatre -
20 October 2014
- 7.30pm
The second of the three collaborations of Gene Hackman and Penn (Bonnie and Clyde being the first). Hackman plays Harry Moseby, a hard-boiled Beverley Hills private detective (at the height of Hollywood’s revival of the genre) hired to search for a film star’s stepdaughter.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS:
Great score – Gene Hackman at his cool best. Well lit. Great scenery. Much enjoyed this film. Strong cast;
Suspense, fine performances, great direction, good filming;
Great to see those fashions again. Great story and character of Moseby. Pity about quality of film with some jumping between scenes;
Fine acting, good suspense, incoherent story and soundtrack;
A lot of clichés and nipples but a serious shortage of subtlety.
