2015/16 Season
FINDING VIVIAN MAIER
US 2013 (12) Ipswich Film Theatre -
8 February 2016
- 7.30pm
Intriguing documentary as Maloof is commentator, our guide and detective. Over many years of ambling round auction rooms he comes upon a collection of really good photographs. He becomes obsessed and buys more. Who was Vivian Maier who photographed 1950s/60s New York and Chicago? The presentation begins with the short film The Ringer.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS:
Brilliant - but sad to think that it couldn’t happen in the digital age;
Best documentary I have seen in years;
The negatives outweighed the negatives;
Would have liked more of her photos and less of the somewhat empty and repetitive talking heads;
Withdraw life savings at bank and then off to Jessops tomorrow, followed by the newsagents. Search nanny job ads. Book storage container.
