2015/16 Season
IDA
Poland 2013 (12A) Ipswich Film Theatre -
9 May 2016
- 7.30pm
A novice nun is told to speak with her last surviving relative before she takes her vows. She learns about her Jewish roots, and a dreadful family secret that calls into question everything she has taken for granted about herself. The presentation begins with the short film Zima.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS:
Historic guilt damages again and again and again. But good people should not retreat from life but join the struggle;
A remarkably assured and successfully sustained film;
Average – I wonder if that’s the story for all nuns;
Beautifully made in rather hackneyed style. Plot fairly predictable;
Very sad and depressing – wicked world.
