France 2013 (12A) 130 minutes Directed by Asghar Farhadi

Ipswich Film Theatre - 16 November 2015 - 7.30pm Returning to France to finalise divorce proceedings with his wife, Ahmad confronts not only his successor, but also the disaffected offspring of both the latter’s present marriage and his own wife’s earlier one. Expertly written and humane, this recalls Rohmer and Renoir both. AUDIENCE COMMENTS: Wonderful film, especially the child actors. Glad to see it a second time; Very watchable tale of such selfishness and self-centredness; Technically brilliant but desperately depressing; Too sad, but well acted; Tedious. The returning ex-husband was the only sympathetic character.
