2015/16 Season
SPRING IN A SMALL TOWN
China 1948 (U) Ipswich Film Theatre -
22 February 2016
- 7.30pm
A young woman looking after her sickly husband is thrown into turmoil when the new doctor turns out to be her first love. Made just after the Civil War, Mu’s bittersweet romance is deemed by many to be the greatest Chinese film of its time.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS:
Charming film with remarkable interaction between the actors;
Not sure it lived up to its billing but exactly what a film society should show;
It may be a classic of the Chinese screen but to me it was heavy going;
Stylish but so slow. Too much chat about grocery shopping;
Historical but better left buried in the past!
