2016/17 Season
AMOUR
France/Germany/Austria 2012 (12A) Ipswich Film Theatre -
3 April 2017
- 7.30pm
Jean-Louis Trintignant and Emmanuelle Riva play an ageing couple, one half of whom has to nurse the other through the trials of failing health. Haneke's characteristically unflinching gaze at the pains of shared existence is also a triumphantly affirmative view of what marital love can mean.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS:
Beautifully acted. Deeply moving but not easy to watch – and yet compelling;
Exquisitely sad, harrowingly beautiful. Perfectly acted and paced;
Brilliant acting from Anne, especially;
This film really brought home the ups and downs of what some people go through without anybody else noticing;
A beautifully made film but too distressing for me.
