2016/17 Season
LOVE IS STRANGE
US 2015 (15) Ipswich Film Theatre -
19 December 2016
- 7.30pm
Two middle-aged gays, Ben and George, decide to make their devoted partnership of almost 40 years official. But marriage in 21st century Manhattan certainly has its challenges – for them and their families. Extremely moving performances from John Lithgow and Alfred Molina.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS:
Very enjoyable. Nice work from both leads;
A first-hand depiction of how wide-reaching and corrosive prejudice is to its direct and indirect victims. Chopin always beautiful;
Kind of affecting but as hammy as hell;
Really rather tedious. Too many tiresome people. Only rescued by the two principal actors. Inappropriate intrusive piano music;
What on earth happened to Uncle Ben? Still, I enjoyed seeing New York again!
