2016/17 Season
NINE
US 2009 (12) Ipswich Film Theatre -
19 September 2016
- 7.30pm
A film director (Daniel Day-Lewis) attempts to revive his career with a new film in this extravagant musical remake of Fellini's Eight and a Half. Marion Cotillard plays his wife, Penélope Cruz his mistress – there are just so many distractions! Also starring Judi Dench, Sophia Loren, Nicole Kidman and Kate Hudson.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS:
A good start to the season. Wonderful music;
That’s going to be a hard one to top this season;
A visual feast, great soundtrack and a stellar cast. Not too much of a plot but it explored some interesting themes;
Perhaps the world’s longest anxiety dream set to music;
Too many Hollywood musicals in Guido’s formative years fried his brains and eventually damaged his creative and ethical circuits.
