2016/17 Season
THEEB
UAE/Qatar/Jordan/UK 2014 (15) Ipswich Film Theatre -
31 October 2016
- 7.30pm
In the declining days of the Ottoman Empire, a pair of Bedouin brothers guide an English officer through the desert in this tellingly played drama, whose majestic vistas belie its intimacy. Imagine Lean's masterpiece told from the point of view of one of the boys.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS:
An excellent film with great music, sweeping shots and simple storyline, gripping from start to finish;
I mostly felt sorry for the camels;
Refreshingly unlike anything Hollywood or David Lean would produce. Astonishing performance from the young actor who plays Theeb. Enigmatic;
A charming light comedy. The plot got lost somewhere in that beautiful scenery;
Goodies wear white – how clichéd.
