2016/17 Season
THE THIRD MAN
UK 1949 (PG) Ipswich Film Theatre -
14 November 2016
- 7.30pm
67 years on and we present Reed’s masterpiece for one night on the big screen – unmissable! Set in Vienna immediately after World War II, the film won an Oscar® for the cinematography. Graham Greene was both novelist and screenwriter. Anton Karas wrote and played that music.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS:
I can watch this film over and over again. A superb evocation of post-war Vienna;
Another stunning evening – I probably saw this film first as a young teenager – it wears well;
Good show – although I’d love to know our funeral count for the season so far;
Great atmosphere and characterisation but slightly woolly plot by modern standards;
Was it suicide or did his mate kill him – or should I know that?
