2016/17 Season
TRASH
US/Brazil 2014 (15) Ipswich Film Theatre -
23 January 2017
- 7.30pm
Stephen Daldry co-directs this adaptation of Andy Mulligan's novel. Two young boys, who live amongst Rio de Janeiro's rubbish, find a wallet. It doesn't take long for someone to come looking for the wallet ...and them. Also featuring Martin Sheen and Rooney Mara. The presentation begins with the short film Billy the Kid.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS:
All too realistic, but very enjoyable, exciting and uplifting;
Brilliant – vibrant – gripping;
A thriller – what a treat;
Child actors excellent. Film as a whole was too long and overblown. Martin Sheen and in particular Rooney Mara’s characters added little and provided an unnecessary distraction;
First third very good – then degraded to generic thriller and digital projection system has got to be sorted! Third time I’ve seen a film crash!
