2017/18 Season
AFTER LOVE
Belgium 2016 (12) Ipswich Film Theatre -
5 February 2018
- 7.30pm
What happens when a couple can no longer bring themselves to live together, but cannot afford to live apart? Such a question is posed by Lafosse’s film, whose French title, L’économie du couple, better characterises the dichotomy at work here. Another in a series of chamber dramas from the director of Private Property. The presentation begins with the short film Mother (2015).
AUDIENCE COMMENTS:
A film which was simply screaming to be made;
Too uncomfortable. I’ve sat through so many meals like that;
Great music, lovely twins, very good actors. I could feel her irritation with him. Seemed very true to life;
Very un-English;
Film too long, music too intrusive.
