France 2015 (15) 115 minutes Directed by Jacques Audiard

Ipswich Film Theatre - 6 November 2017 - 7.30pm Audiard has dealt with the immigrant experience in France before with A Prophet. The hero of this film is no former colonial but a Tamil warrior who now works as a caretaker in the Parisian suburbs with his wife and daughter. However, daily violence around them awakens dormant undercurrents in his psyche. The presentation begins with the short film Archie Proudfoot - Made in London (2017). AUDIENCE COMMENTS: Grim, horrible, absolutely riveting. Superb production; Another first rate film from the Film Society. Thank you; A bit gruelling but good triumphed over evil; Powerful and moving but not a comfortable watch; Deeply moving and a sad reflection on current migration.
