Armando Iannucci directs and co-writes with quite some brilliance: this subject should not be funny! 1953: Stalin dies suddenly and who on earth should take his place? An all-star cast keeps faith with the satirical pace throughout, in particular Simon Russell Beale as a deliciously villainous Beria. The presentation begins with the short film Made in London: Thomas Von Nordheim (2017).
AUDIENCE COMMENTS: Brilliant. Terrifying, funny, shocking, informative. Great cast. A credit to all involved; Great control of changing tone; Didn't work treating such a violent subject with humour; Quite funny in parts; Not sure what the point of this film was. Not funny enough for a comedy and failing to be anything else.
