Ipswich Film Theatre - 17 September 2018 - 7.30pm Howard Hawks gives Anita Loos’ novel the full Hollywood treatment. Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell and the rest of the cast enjoy themselves. This Golden Oldie still sparkles after so many years: gorgeous costumes, good tunes and fantastic choreography. The presentation begins with the short film Bendik and the Monster (2014). AUDIENCE COMMENTS: Better than I expected by some way. Marilyn compelling to watch and Jane Russell matched her; A true product of its time. Monroe was a very underestimated comedy actress – star of the film; Great double act and Marilyn before she was ruined by Hollywood; Interesting how completely Monroe outclassed Jane Russell; Sexist rubbish.
