2018/19 Season
A MAN CALLED OVE
Sweden 2015 (15) Ipswich Film Theatre -
1 October 2018
- 7.30pm
A comedy in which grumpy old retiree and former president of the block association, Ove, continues to exert a Svengali-like presence over the residence. Until, that is, he meets a boisterous new set of tenants and life takes an upward turn. A nominee at last year’s Oscars. The presentation begins with the short film Comptine d'un Autre Eté: L'Après-Midi (2017).
AUDIENCE COMMENTS:
A beautiful film true to the book. A lovely story, well told;
How can a film about death and dying be so life affirming? Loved it;
Heartwarming;
Oversentimental. Ove as a young man good;
There is something very depressing about feel-good movies. Very predictable.
