Ipswich Film Theatre - 5 November 2018 - 7.30pm A Mafia bodyguard bears down on the man responsible for a failed attempt on the life of his employer, but acquaintance with the blind sister causes him to re-assess his life. An affecting romantic drama, double winner at Cannes 2013. The presentation begins with the short film A War to End No Wars (2017). A copy of the main film was no longer available from the distributor. As an alternative, the Society presented Three Monkeys (2008). AUDIENCE COMMENTS: Needs some processing, but excellent film. Air of despair throughout; Excellent photography except when the background went fuzzy. Very absorbing despite or perhaps because of the slow pace; Where were the Three Monkeys? They might have been more cheerful; Well made, I suppose. Glad when it was all over. I didn’t really care about their problems, anyway; Lengthy lingering looks and stills do not a good film make. Only saving grace was the local views.
