A WELCOME FROM
THE CHAIRMAN

David Clare
CHAIRMAN

Welcome to our 80th Season at Ipswich Film Society. If you are new to us, we are the third oldest film society in the land and our mission is to open up the treasures of world cinema to a public often starved of such things in the conventional cinema marketplace.

You may ask whether we are still relevant in an era of streaming and other home-based platforms. Well, one of the appeals of film societies has always been to have chosen for you a selection of films you might never have come across or considered watching, and to enjoy them in the company of like-minded individuals.

Normally we try to include some classic titles in our programme, but this year, because of a later start than usual, we have opted for eight recent features we might all have missed over Lockdown. As always, there is a balance between English and foreign language.

We hope you will enjoy them as much as we have in choosing them and will feel encouraged to join us. At £3.25 per film we represent outstanding value!

All our screenings take place at the newly refurbished King Street Cinema, formerly Ipswich Film Theatre, which has been our home for the last five decades. Time: Mondays at 7.30pm.
