Alien spacecraft appear on Earth, in this multi-award winning contemporary drama. Amy Adams plays the expert linguist sent in to open channels of communication. She is ably supported by Jeremy Renner and Forest Whitaker, and an extraordinary, haunting film score by Jóhann Jóhannsson. The presentation begins with the short film Alien Repair Guy (2013).

AUDIENCE COMMENTS: One of the best movies screened. Fascinating idea, superb acting; Pretty good sci-fi. Excellent effects. Amy Adams great; Didn’t quite understand if I was in the past, present or future, or a bit of everything. Enjoyed it nonetheless; Intriguing with some beautiful images in places but terribly slow moving, ponderous and overcooked. Out of focus and and poor lighting annoying; The best bits were the burping jellyfish.
